Below are the questions already discussed:

What is your favourite latest song? Mine is Bad Man by R. Kelly. I love the song! Theres another song by Macy Gray, which is very nice as well! South African artists are doing good as well, my latest favourites come from Joe Nina (Zodwa and Sbali), how can I forget the Doc Shebelezas song Ebumnandini. Loyiso is also doing wellI love his latest song! Tell us your latest favourites!

The Sunday Times has declared the 79 year-old grandfather Charles Dempsey the Mampara of the Week and the Judas of Oceania! You will remember that Charles Dempsey has been accused of denying S.A to host the Soccer World Cup in 2006.  Dempsey speaking for himself said, I have very strong reasons for making the decision but Im not going into them. I didnt do it lightly; I dont make decisions lightly. I dont regret what I did. I believe people jumped to conclusions, which they can jump to. It wasnt easy - it was due to unbearable pressure. The questions I have for you are: Why would Dempsey have ignored requests to vote for South Africa? Why else would he have blathered on enthusiastically about S.A in conversations with former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, only to wilt when it came to actually doing something? Tell us what you think!

On another issue: The disgraced former Proteas captain, Hansie Cronje, has been offered a job by Technikon Pretoria to lecture a course on ethics in sport. Dont forget Cronje still has to pay his legal team an estimated R660 000. What are your views?

Last night I happened to read The Star newspaper (my favourite paper), and I was taken by the words of Leslie Thoka, who wrote as follows:

It would have been foolhardy to base our hopes and dreams on a competition, because our hopes and dreams are not that flimsy. Whatever benefits the World Cup would have brought South Africa, can be created by South Africans. We do not need a World Cup to create a prosperous society in Africa.

I fully agree with Leslie! What do you think?

What is your favourite latest advert on radio or television? I dont know whether you have seen the latest television advert from MTN. The advert goes like this: Nomhle Nkonyeni is explaining to this woman to organize a traditional gathering (Isiko) in Sandton, and she goes on to say that the whole world will one day become African. The part that really makes me to laugh is when the white lady says to her boyfriend Hayi Suka Wena meaning get away after the guy has declared his love for her! That was really creative from MTN! I love it! On another issue: Do you think Africa should boycott the World Cup in 2006 just as the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics in 1980? Tell us what you think!

Question of the Week: This morning John (Radio 702) was asking the following question: Should the city of Johannesburg be renamed? If so, what should we call it? Tell us what you think!

Last night I received an SMS (20:13:35) from Lerato (one of the members of the Question of the Week) asking the following question, which I thought I should make it the question of the week. So please, if you know the answer let us know: The SMS reads like this: Hi Wongs, how r u on this lekker cold nite? Since ure so well informed, can u tell me what became of Tokyo Sexwale? Thx & God Bless. L. Mohaule. (I always call her Mohaule Nice surname!).

Question of the Week: Do you believe in Horoscope? Johannes really believes
in Horoscope.

Question of the week to you is: Do you feel safe driving in Johannesburg town? If you happen to be working in Johannesburg CDB, do you feel safe? When was the last time you were in Johannesburg CBD? Do you do your shopping in JHB CBD? If you are not doing your shopping in JHB CBD, tell us why? Do you have a favourite Restaurant in JHB CBD? Your input will be much appreciated, since I will be forwarding your comments to the Premier Mbhazima Shilowa. Thanks

The Sunday Times (24/09/00) has awarded the Minister of Health, Dr. Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, the Mampara of the Week Award. Question of the Week: Can you tell us, yes or no, whether HIV causes AIDS?

Question of the Week: Do Blacks take advantage of other Blacks? Let's discuss!

Question of the Week (Tata Ma Chance, Tata their Shame): Do you agree with this statement - In a country in which millions of people struggle each day to find enough money for food, shelter, water, transport and clothing, it is cruel and evil to hold out to them the prospect of sudden wealth, of fortunes not only beyond their dreams but also beyond their ability to handle in the remote likelihood they should win Stephen Mulholland (Another Voice Sunday Times, 15/08/2000).  In the past we have discussed the Lotto National Lottery. What I want to know from you is do you think the National Lotto Lottery is damaging our society?

Question of the Week: Are men heads of the families?

Question of the week: Is it fine to move in with your girlfriend/boyfriend? What are the advantages or disadvantages, if any?

Question of the Week (The e-mail that gets you talking!) I dont know whether you watched 3rd Degree (etv) on Thursday (9/11/00) about the Rights of Admission. To cut the story short, do you agree that certain resorts should have Admission that read White Afrikaaners Only? Is this racism? What resorts do you know that have this admission? Has it happened to you that you were refused admission because of your colour, religion, etc.? Do you agree with the concept? Do you think certain group of people have a right to associate themselves alone and only alone? Do you think there is racism in our country? Please forward your opinions about the matter! Your comments will also be forwarded to etv 3rd Degree Debra Petta (3rdDegree@etv.co.za)!

Question of the Week: Could you hold the O.J's, the Quincy's & the Pointers responsible for marrying whites (as the article states)? Is it wrong to get married to whites? Is this against our culture as blacks?

This is our first question of the week in this New Year (2001)! Here it goes: Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): Do you salute street vendors? Yes or no and why?

He has been through a lot and among his wishes is to be in the same room with President Thabo Mbeki. He just wants to touch him and have a talk, nothing more Gail Johnson, foster mother of 11-year-old Nkosi Johnson, dying of full-blown Aids. Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): Do you think President Thabo Mbeki should visit Nkosi? Tell us why or why not!

Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): Do you think the new no-smoking law is going to work in South Africa?

Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): With the Valentines day around the corner, what do you think woman want? Ladies you are also welcome to give us your views!

Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): Trevor Manuel, Minister of Finance, delivered his speech two weeks ago, and we were told that it will benefit us! Did you know that his dogs are Ntombi and Thandi? Question of the week is, do you approve of these Nguni names to be given to dogs? What do you make of this from Trevor Manuel?

Question of the Week (The e-mail that keeps you talking): Namibian President Sam Nujoma has been titled Mampara of the week (Sunday Times, 25/03/01) for following the footsteps of his friend, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, to declare all-out war on his countrys gay and lesbian community. Are guys and lesbians part and parcel of African history or did this come with the Westerns? Give us your views!

Question of the Week (14/05/01): The last time we had this e-mail was weeks ago! So the question of the week is do you agree that we should have Nelson Mandela Day as a public holiday? If so, which day should it be?

The question has always been prompted to me: Why do African brothers like to be called by their English names? For example, Brandley, Desiree, Jerry, and Johannes etc.

Question of the Week (25/06/01): Why do Africans continue taking their kids to schools that do not teach African languages? We all know the impact of this we end up having kids who can hardly pronounce African names e.g. Ntshinga, they will pronounce it as Ntsinga, Tebogo as Teboco. Where are your kids schooling? Why do you as a parent take your kids there, where they are not taught African language as a 1st Language? If you intend to be a parent, e.g. Mpume, where will you kids school and why? Do you think African Languages are important? If not, why?

Question of the week (23/07/01): Tell us how are inquisitive are your neighbours? The question comes after I decided to buy myself an item for my place. The item was delivered while I was at work and when I got back my neighbours, which you probably know by now, opened their door and demanded to come to my place to see the new item. They worked around my place as if it was Museum, asking all kinds of questions. The question then is how inquisitive are your neighbours? Tell us!

Question of the Week (30/07/01): According to the Sunday Times Business Times 3 (29/07/01) an increasing number of people are being dishonest about almost everything when applying for a job. Have you lied about your qualification, earnings or criminal record when you were applying for a job? Do you know of anyone who has cooked his CV to get a particular job? Do you think its criminal to do such or do you think these people are achievers taking high risks? Tell us!

Question of the Week (06/08/01): How does the world see South Africa? According to Tribute Magazine (May 2001), this is the way the world sees us:

Question of the Week (06/08/01): This comes after I have visited the Sunday Times Picture Library (http://www.suntimes.co.za/mandela/) on the man I admire Nelson Mandela.  And if you have not done so, please do! The question is why will Mr. Nelson Mandela not show his emotional (e.g. crying) side in public? What do you think is the reason? For example when he was released from prison, not a tear! He never cried! How about when he was going thru a divorce with his long time lover Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela? Not a tear! Why? I will wait for your replies, hoping that you will take this question seriously by looking deep down into the question and the answers! I remain!

Question of the week (13/08/01): Crisis? What crisis? asks Mugabes man. This was the headline of Sunday Times (12/08/01). Those are the words of Zimbabwean Cabinet Information minister Jonathan Moyo. He continued and stated that It is you people who have Mandela [squatter] camps all over the place, not us. In fact, the average black person in Zimbabwe is better off than the average black person in South Africa.

Question of the Week (21/08/01): Why do men have nipples?

Question of the week (27/08/01): Do MBAs make better CEOs? Before you answer that, please consider the following:

A Research has shown that only 40 of the top 100 US companies are run by a CEO with an MBA.

MBA is touted as the premier business management qualification.

Top icons of US management excellence do no have MBAs (e.g. Bill Gates).

George W Bush is the first US president with an MBA.

Harvard University has recently dropped its average age to 24 to accept students for MBA. Do you think this is wise?

Wits Business School insists on students having significant business experience prior to joining Wits. Whats your input?

Question of the week (17/09/01): The last time we had a question of the week was 3 weeks ago! The question is do you think President Thabo Mbeki is too white. This question comes after some listeners in Tim Modises talk show said so! They said it was incongruous for him to talk about an African renaissance while wearing what they called a white mans suit. They criticised his choice of foreign cars and grew quite abusive about his frequent overseas trips and his eloquence, which, they said, was not African enough

What does being too white mean? At what point do white and black become too white? I personally have been called by some students as being too white. Is it too white to blonde your hair? Have you ever heard anyone described as being too coloured or too Muslim, how about too black?

I will wait for your input!

Question of the Week (20/09/01): If terrorists had to hit South Africa, like they did in America, which building(s) do you think they will hit?

Question of the Week (05/10/01): Will Russia, Germany and the Arab nations launch an attack on Israel? Will Japan and China enter the world conflict? What is the significance of the attack against the USA? Who are the sheep and goat nations of the world? What does the future hold?

Question of the Week (09/10/01): Do you approve of the attack of US on Afghanistan? Tell us your views!

Question of the Week (23/10/01): Is abortion a murder? This comes after I had a discussion with Gugu over the e-mail.

Question of the Week (05/11/01): If I had to give you money for you and your partner to visit your favourite resort or hotel. What will it be? Which place would you like to see and why? I personally would love to go and see the Victoria Falls. I would love to spend a week, if not two nights at the Royal Livingstone Hotel or the Zambezi Sun. So if you have R 3540 to spare, give it to me!

Question of the Week (08/11/01): Baby Tshepang, the nine-month-old Upington baby allegedly gang-raped and sodomised by six men last week, is on the road to recovery. The question to you is if these six men are found guilty, what should happen to them?

Question of the Week (26/11/01): People dont leave companies, they leave managers and leaders. Do you agree?

Question of the Week 2  (27/11/01): I have been requested by a member to ask you for your advice on this one. Please note that names have been changed for confidentiality.

Ziphokazi and Pumla have been friends since tertiary. They are now working and Pumla has been seeing this guy, in fact they are staying together, for several months now. The problem started when Ziphokazi came to the picture. Ziphokazi and Boy-boy (boyfriend of Pumla) were once before (long time ago) an item. Recently Boy-boy has been making moves on Ziphokazi, and Ziphokazi does not know how to handle this! She has asked me, as the chairman, to throw this one to the group for advice.

Question of the week (03/12/01): we want to know why only around 20% of IT workers are women and what happens to them after they receive their qualifications. The study is available online, at http://itwoman.co.za.

Question of the week (10/12/01): According to Khathu Mamaila (Star Newspaper 28/11/01) Zimbabwe is on the brink of total collapse. The writing is on the wall. He continues in this article by stating that black people in Zimbabwe are getting their land and dignity back. In South Africa, blacks have no land and no dignity. And because of this, they are shot dead by racists while looking for firewood, they are dragged behind bakkies, and they are shot dead for fun by young white males as part of a game. His point to those that have been criticizing Mugabe, and Rolphy comes to my mind in this case, is that before we castigate Mugabe for dealing with his problems the best way he knows how is for us to address our own imbalances!  Give us your views! I know we have dealt with the Zimbabwe issue a number of times, but it seems it is not going away

Question of the Week (14/12/01): With the year finally closing on us. I thought I should ask all of you this! What have you achieved this year? What are things that you could not achieve, if any? What were your proudest moments this year? Tell us!

Question of the week (17/12/01): Which one do you love most, between your girlfriend/boyfriend and your family. Who comes first?

The above question of the week was sent to members via SMS. Here are some of the answers:

Samina: Hi Wowo, my opinion with regard to the question is that one should love ones family more and ones family should always come first. Girlfriends and boyfriends are important too but if one looks at the negative aspect of having either is that they can leave you at any time and onexpect who comes firstshould love for now and will understand when she has a family of her own and never expect someone to take the place of ones family but to be part of ones lifeI hope you do not mind me saying these things I guess I am a bit old fashioned. Rather have some one that is willing to accept you for who you arebecome wives and husbands the mans family still remains priority no matter what as the wives marry not into the husbands life but also into his family. It is thus much easier for a man to remarry but not for a womanMight think that it is a bit unfair on the females but that is what I have seen. So if the woman you love and she loves you she should not ever exp

Portia: I love my kids more. I love them more than anything.

Pepsi: You cannot compare oranges with apples.

Question of the Week (02/01/02): If you had an hour to live and could make only one phone call who would you call, and what would you say?

Malusi Jamela replied (via SMS): God forgive me for disobeying you. I will them leave my life normally!

Faith replied (via SMS): Call the priest for the Eucharist. What about you?

Me (via SMS): I will call you!

Faith replied (via SMS): I knew it! You are so predictable

Me (via SMS): If I so predictable, why would I be calling you for?

Faith replied (via SMS): Because

Me (via SMS): Yes, predictor continue

Sivuyile (via SMS): Happy new year mhlekazi! I wish you success in everything you do. The first person I would call is my girlfriend. She knows everything and I trust herto be continuedI would tell her what needs to be done concerning policies and insurances. Then I would ask her to say goodbye to my mother and I love them.

Bongi (via SMS): Since I will be with my family. I would call you and tell you I love you and thankyou for all the good time we had together and tell you that you must move on and wish you luck in everything. Who would you call?

Me (via SMS): You, my love, up until the last second of the call!

Nhlanhla (call): I will call God, and thank Him for all the things He has done for me! Ask Him to give me wisdom She went on and on

Nwabisa (via SMS): Must I answer you and what about you?

Me (via SMS): I will answer you when you give me your answer!

Nwabisa (vi SMS): My baby

Me (via SMS): That is so sweat!

Nwabisa (via SMS): And you

Me (via SMS): I will call you!

Nwabisa (via SMS): Thats nice only if its true!

Me (via SMS): That is true!

Nwabisa (via SMS) What would you say when you call me?

Me (via SMS): Read you a poem!

Question of the Week (01/02/02): I have a question will u plz 4ward it to the group. Apparently, theres this friend of mine (rather not mention name) she is single and apparently she is still looking around for a partner.  There are few men after her and 3of these men have qualities that he wants from a man But the problem is he can date only one and is willing to make that choice but the big problem all three of these men are married.  What can the group advise her.  I told her that u as my brother would give her some answers from yo email list.  But  she said I must print 4her the replies as she doesnt have email . Thanking u in advance!!Nomonde.

Question of the Week: A member wishes to get your views on the following scenario: She wishes to have a boy. She is currently having a baby girl. At home they are all girls, and she will die to have a boy for the family. What do you suggest? While she wishes to be pregnant again she does not want to bring a girl into this world. What can she do? She is also thinking of adoption. Do you think she should take this route? Another problem facing her is the fact that she has not been lucky when it comes to serious man! Now, the problem is that time is against her and she wants the boy now! She feels it is also important that she should know the biological father and the child (boy) should know his heritage! Please advise!

Question of the week (17/02/02): How much do you think you should give to your church congregations? I see other people take half of their salaries to the church congregations. What is the Bible saying about this? How much are you suppose to give away? Enlighten us!

Question of the week (27/02/02): I've got a hypothetical situation here, and your advise is needed: Zweli has been involved with Thato for 3 years, and they have a 5 month old daughter - he's working and she's studying, they live apart, and he's consistently providing all the financial support for the little one. Now it happens that Zweli meets this great woman Mbali, who is different from everybody else that he's met, and he feels like for the first time he's in love... he's even prepared to leave Thato for her. Now, in your opinion would it be right for him to pursue Mbali, is he justified to leave Thato... what's ur take on this?

Question of the week (28/02/02 ): Cynics will say that men and women simply cannot be friends without secretly wishing they could go to bed together. Has this happened to you? What is your view? Tell us!

Some answers from SMS members:

Malusi: Many times chief. Baninzi ngoku, but before they were not really friends. Sibongile, Marcia, etc.

Nhlanhla: Yes! Wowo, its not a sin to have sexual attraction to your friend. It is wrong if you act unjust or commit adultery. Hey, we all human with imagination. God wont punish us.

Lerato: Never. My main interest in anybody is in their soul & I try to love others purely the way God loves me, so I dont get side tracked into lusting after male pals.

Question of the week (04/03/02): According to Sunday Times report (03/03/02), Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are running a concerted campaign to expel Zimbabwe from the Commonwealth. Africa and other developing countries are fiercely opposed to any decision being taken before next weekends presidential elections. The question to you is do you think Zimbabwe should be expelled from the Commonwealth?

Question of the week (07/03/02): Who will win Zimbabwe elections? Do you think Robert Mugabe, my man, will win?

Question of the Week (15/03/02): This question of the week was forwarded to SMS Members as well! The question is how many times do you have sex a month? Lets see what SMS members wrote (please note that some of them have asked me not to reveal their names! You are also welcome to request that!):

Enough for me is seven days a week. However, I need to accommodate my partner which I dont have at the moment! Dont mention my name please!

About 60 times, certainly less than 80, but more than 40. Ramaisa Senior Member.

Hi, I make love to my man 2 or 3 times in a month. I think that is enough. We sometimes overdo it thoughPlease ask him if he is satisfied! Please dont reveal my name!

and how about you ? Lerato.

Sex should be as often as you can. B.

I am waiting for your e-mail! Let me know if you dont want you name to be revealed to the members!

Question of the week (18/03/02): Do you think Zimbabwe elections were free and fair? Tell us what you think!

Question of the week (20/03/02): No no never! Never again shall Zimbabwe be a colony. Those were the words of President Robert Mugabe on his inauguration speech! The Common Wealth have replied Mugabe No no never! Never again shall Zimbabwe be part of the Commonwealth. What do you think of the latest suspension of Zimbabwe for a year from the Commonwealth? Give us your views!

Question of the week (25/03/02): Jomo son will be taking a bulging technical staff of 26 to the World Cup. They include a television analyst as one of his advisers and a journalist as goal keeping coach. Both have played the game, but are hardly the right choices for what will be a grueling three months. Do you think this is justifiable? Give us your views!

Question of the week (27/03/02): In a long article published by the Sunday Times on 3 February 2002, Professor Badat had one of the following comments: Although black students may predominate at historically white universities, the culture of many of these institutions remain discomforting to blacks. He continues and writes,  We continue to produce graduates who lack the knowledge, attitude, competency, capacity, skills, literacy and numeracy to effectively execute their responsibilities as employees. Question to you is do you agree?  Give us your views!

Question of the week (02/04/02): Yesterday was April Fools day! Who did you fool or who fooled you and in what way? Tell us! Heres what Keletso (SMS Member) wrote: Someone called the police and told them there is a copse in the theatre. They arrived looking for it the whole hospital, and whats worse is that I also helped them search

Question of the Week (04/04/02): According to Khatu Mamaila [The Star 27/03/02]: When Cameroon qualified in the quarter-finals of the soccer world cup, soccer commentators kept on rubbing it in: This is the first African team to qualify. The same noise was made when Nigeria won the Olympic gold medal their sterling soccer performance deserved. Unlike the rest of them, this one has made it. Is it possible for pigmentation to be irrelevant when awards are given? When will the best candidates win, on merit alone? Will merit eventually be the best guide to honour or appoint somebody? If that happens, perhaps we will be spared the preambles of this is the only black person to have done this and that. Give us your views!

Question of the week (08/04/02 ): In his book, thirteen cents, K. Sello Duiker wrote as follows I must say, no matter what anyone says, coloured people know how to have a good time. They just seem to know how to have fun. Whenever theres laughter and mischief on a beach, theres usually a coloured face not far from there. The question to you is do you agree? Give us your views

Question of the week (11/04/02): What will you do if your friend asked you to bear his/her child?

Question of the week (): What is your latest favourite/annoying advert on tv or radio? Mine is the new Handy Andy advert! I love it!

Question of the week (23/04/02): It was yesterday 31 months ago that I decided to launch the question of the week. Thats right, the question of the week celebrated its birthday yesterday. It is 31 months old. I must say the e-mail distribution has received nods of approval from most of you, however I would like you to tell us more on what you would like to be changed or improved on this e-mail? What topics do you think we should cover and what exactly do you enjoy about the question of the week?

Question of the week (29/04/02): Do you bother what your partner does when you are not around? Give us your views!

Question of the week (03/05/02): What has been your biggest achievement?

Question of the Week (06/05/02): Will you stop a man or woman (whom you love) to be married to someone else? What will you exactly do?

Question of the week (08/05/02) Come from Bongi (SMS Member): Would you donate any body parts when you die?

Question of the week (13/05/02) Hulisani Rashaka, Polekwane, Limpopo wrote to the Sunday Times (12/05/02) as follows (kindly note that the letter was shorten): Xhosa Nostra The appointment of Charles Nqakula to replace Steve Tswete as Minister of Safety and Security, and Nqakulas replacement by his wife as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs is bizarre to say the least. Tswete was a Xhosa and so are the Nqakulas. I am not trying to be tribalist. Nor am I implying that the Nqakulas are not up to the task. What I am saying is that this creates an unfortunate perception. Mbeki would do well to remember that tribalism is and has always been at the core of conflict on the African continent! Question to you member is do you agree? Kindly pass this question of the week to your friends, and lets what will be their comments? Give us your views!

Question of the week (20/05/02) For the first time I am giving away a prize for answering the question of the week and getting the answer correct. You will win a gift voucher worth R 400.00. The question is, name the two countries that will face each other in the final of the World Cup 2002. In your answer also tell us what will be the score and who will score! Finish off your answer by telling us at what times will the scorers score! Good Luck!

Question of the week 131 (10/04/03) Heres a letter from T Williams (De Aar): I am worried about the way we black South Africans handle our funerals. In the old days, funerals were respectful occasions, but now they look like parties and beauty contests. People show off their expensive clothes and even judge the quality of the coffin; even the food is an issue, with salads, cool drinks and cake served like it is a wedding. Even more embarrassing is what they call After Tears where alcohol is served and people dance.

Some people go to funerals to show off their expensive clothes and ladies even go in trousers or mini-skirts now. Others seem to go just to socialize. Even the families who have lost loved ones dont show full respect because they are collecting cards and taking videos throughout the process.

This not only costs a lot, but people have come to expect this kind of occasion. I dont know where they have learnt this behaviour. Please let us go back to our roots. How easily we forget how sacred funerals used to be.
